Philip Johnson was a renowned architect who designed the Seagram Building and Lincoln Center, and is perhaps best known for his iconic Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. But on the same property, Johnson built another house: an opaque brick house where he hid his secret gay partner, David Whitney. Inspired by real events and the inherent emotional weight of architecture, Glass House is a sweeping, romantic musical about a forgotten love story between two men. As Philip’s complicated legacy comes into focus, the musical asks a timeless question: How do we choose to love people who are deeply flawed?

Why do people invest in theatre?
Most everyone involved starts with an immediate love of the arts. Investors play a vital part of bringing new theatre to life and have the potential to enjoy some deserved perks for doing so. You may get tickets to an opening night party, meet the cast, and have the added potential for financial gain if a show is successful. While theatre investment comes with risk, an oft-quoted stat is that one in five shows recoup and long-running hits can result in returns many times over yielding income for years to come.
Who invests in theatre?
People from all professions, ages, and locations can participate, but in New York State, to legally invest in a Broadway production, you must meet certain criteria and be accredited. Minimum investments in a Broadway show traditionally start at $25,000.
What is an accredited investor?
There are many criteria from the SEC that can be met to be considered an accredited investor (read about it here!) but the most common options that apply to Broadway investors are:
Net worth over $1 million, excluding primary residence (individually or with spouse or partner)
Income over $200,000 (individually) or $300,000 (with spouse or partner) in each of the prior two years, and reasonably expects the same for the current year.
How do I invest?
Reach out below and we look forward to connecting with you! Investing in theatre requires working with a producer. Lead producers and co-producers help raise money that makes live theatre possible. They share budgets, potential recoupment timelines, and marketing material with investors who then decide if a project is right for them. Producers will keep you up to date with how a show is doing financially and provide you with your disbursements and tax forms going forward.
